DRU Yoga & Meditation: Maeva, the owner of Concept Yoga teaches DRU yoga and meditation for 10 years now. Find out more about me here. In 2024, Maggie, a fellow DRU teacher joined the studio.

Dru Yoga is a graceful and potent form of yoga, based on soft flowing movements, breathing and visualisation. With its foundations set firmly in ancient yogic tradition, it works on body, mind and spirit.

Dru Yoga improves strength and flexibility, creates core stability, builds a feeling of positivity, and rejuvenates your whole being. Dru Yoga can help increase energy levels, ease back pain, and wash away stress.

Designed to be practised by people of all abilities, fitness levels and age groups, it is a style of yoga that can be quickly dipped into or learnt in more depth over a lifetime. It is now taught in many different countries, and as such has helped the DRU organisation become one of the largest yoga organisations in the world. As hundreds of Dru Yogis are finding every day, at its most simplest, Dru Yoga helps relieve the pressures of modern living.

Dru Yoga is shown to be effective in the treatment and management of lower back pain and stress, and is known for being a particularly safe style of yoga. Previous studies on the effectiveness of Dru Yoga for stress in the workplace and back pain were published in the Scandinavian Journal of Work and Environmental Health and the Journal of Occupational Medicine (UK).

Whatever your yoga ambitions, you’ll find Dru Yoga a fresh, energetic, positive and complete approach to health and well-being.

Dru Meditation is about finding a still inner point from which you can look at the world in a different way and discover a fresh, new perspective on your life. You'll discover powerful breathing techniques, kriyas and concentration techniques.

Discover your inner stillness

In Dru Meditation you will learn to access a deep inner peace, no matter what challenges you may be facing in life.

Dru takes you deeply into the science of meditation, showing how to bring your awareness from the physical body, through to the deepest layers of your being. Dru meditation uniquely makes a focus of the five koshas, which are the different levels through which we experience the world.

What makes Dru meditation special?

So you’ve tried a few types of meditation, and enjoyed the stress-relieving benefits. But have you tried Dru Meditation yet? And do you know how Dru Meditation is different from other styles of meditation?

We like to define meditation as the perfect balance between alertness and relaxation. It doesn’t matter if you practise in a chair or sitting cross legged on the floor, it’s all about quietening the mind and stilling the body.

A DRU Meditation class

First we quieten the body with a yoga class, and then the mind with a deep relaxation, finally we are ready to meditate.

Pralaya yoga: Danny

Invented and developed by Robert Boustany, Pralaya yoga specializes in strengthening your weak muscles and lengthening (making flexible) the stiff or strong muscles. Due to habitual postures in our daily life, our body will often adopt the position you are in most often. In this case, not all muscles are used proportionally, this creates an imbalance in the body. You also see this in sports (tennis, golf, football, running). One side of the body does more than the other.

By specifically training both sides, it ensures long strong muscles, healthy joints and space and balance in the body. In addition, at Pralaya we try to keep the spine in its original state as much as possible so that no blockages arise in the nervous system.

After experiencing the benefits of yoga for himself, Danny left for India in 2007 for training in the motherland of yoga. There he was overwhelmed with the lifestyle that yoga actually is. After, almost, half a year he came back with so many new insights and passion. He knew he wanted to practice and teach yoga for the rest of his life. Danny has been practicing yoga since 2003, and training with Robert since 2010.

In recent years Danny has continued to deepen and develop in different styles and techniques of yoga and awareness training.
